Field notebook · Vol. I
Notes from the lodge
Welcome to my little notebook. Here, I put the gear I actually carry - or used to carry - with me through its paces: waxed canvas bags, leather boots, pocket knives, jackets and accessories built to last, from big names like Filson or Red Wing to small independent workshops. No copy-pasted spec sheets, no product sent back after a week: every review is based on months of use, rain, mud and miles. I look at the quality of the materials, the strength of the stitching, how the leather patinates and how the canvas ages, but also whether the item can be repaired. I tell you what won me over and what let me down, no sugarcoating, to help you choose gear that will stay with you for years, gaining patina instead of wearing out.
- A review of the Redwood Kilroy field watch
- Captain Quint’s cap, or the search for the perfect heritage cap
- The Filson Journeyman, a complete review
Nothing like that in the notebook.
— to be continued.
